Step 5

Into Action

Balancing the Physical, Mental, and Spiritual dimensions.

Am I ready to admit to God, to myself, and to another human being the exact nature of my wrongs?

“Admitted to God, (Spiritual), to ourselves, (Mental), and to another human being, (Physical), the exact nature of our wrongs.” (Pg.59)

The 7 Areas of Self

The "Exact Nature of our Wrongs" arises out of these seven areas of self:

Self-Esteem
My high or low opinion of myself
Pride
How I want and expect you to think of me
Security
What I need for me to feel safe
Ambition
What I want from my efforts
Personal Relations
What I expect of everyone's relationship
Sex Conduct
What I expect out of my intimate relationships
Pocketbook
My own finances

"We ask God for the courage to admit our guilt, shame and fearful selfishness. Now these are about to be cast out."

Readiness for the Next Step

Wrongs, defects, and shortcomings are simply what is blocking us from practicing God’s will. We are ready for Step 6 "if we can answer to our satisfaction." Our own Peace of Mind is the measure of our readiness.
